Pulse plasma ion nitriding is a thermochemical case hardening process used to increase hardness and wear resistance in metals and alloys. Ion nitriding is particularly beneficial when applied to higher alloyed steels as the process imparts a high surface hardness which promotes high resistance to wear, scuffing, galling and seizure.
